vegan say wha?

I've been doing some reading, serious web surfing and even some pondering over the way my own body feels after I have consumed something of the food kind and I think I'm ready to make a huge transformation. I mean HUGE! but I am going to do this g.r.a.d.u.a.l.l.y.
Take this all in baby steps; learn how to do it and do it right.

{Oh... and I'm doing this to save the animals and stuff...}

I'm going to switch to a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. I'm even going to subject Boy Child to it but I'm not going to tell him because I know if I don't, he'll never notice!

I first started by reading the book Skinny Bitch. If you have not read this, it is a must. Seriously. Rory and Kim are real, raw and tell you just how it is. While I was reading they recommended going to GoVeg.com to get a vegetarian starter kit. Well... I couldn't resist! While I was there I started looking around, digging deeper and deeper into that site and the many other recommended sites. Hook, line and friggin' sinker!! (just what they want you to do!)

Hurry up Mr. Crazy Mailman... bring me my damn kit already!

Skinny Bitch isn't just about the vegan lifestyle but also how to remove some of the other "shit" in your life. As I was reading I was shocked by some of the information yet at the same time I really didn't doubt what I was reading was true. We live in a world of shit. We basically just consume... yep-- shit!

I'm gradually going to make changes according to what I'm comfortable with, in hopes that my end result will be adopting a vegan lifestyle from what I have learned by reading Skinny Bitch and all the other research I'm exerting all kinds of my energy into.

Phew... what a journey I'm about to embark! I think I can do it, I have already taken a few of those steps in my life, I just need to keep going.

Here are a few things I'm doing, and these aren't just geared towards the whole vegan thing either. Read Skinny Bitch and you'll figure it out for yourself.

*No soda (this isn't a problem anyways; it has been almost 7 years since I've touched the stuff)
*No more coffee (it has been almost a week and I have a serious headache but I'm toughing it out)
*I used to use Splenda in my coffee... I'm kissing that shit good bye! (Arsenic? Umm Hello? Seriously?)
*No more aspartame or fake sweetener products (Snapple I'm going to miss you like no other!!)

This is what I'm about to do:
*I'm ditching meat(obviously) Ever since my gastric bypass I have had a horrible relationship with red meat so I don't see this being too much of a problem. ~crossing fingers~
*Slowly remove chicken from my diet. Chicken has been one of the main "meats" my body has been able to digest since gastric.
*Removing fish/seafood from my diet on the other hand is going to be incredibly hard!! I live on the coast and lobster is so accessible. Salmon, tuna haddock, scallops, shrimp, clams... etc-- I love it all! I really hope there are some nice alternatives out there or I become so over powered by new taste buds I forget all about my love for seafood. (I also have to remember why I'm doing this)
* Time to say good bye to eggs. I think this might be tough. I know there are substitutes out there but even after all the reading I have done on alternatives, tips and tricks I am already overwhelmed.
* Milk! Ohh boy! Let the search begin for a soy milk both me and Boy Child will like. Boy Child started drinking Silk before he turned 1 and continued until almost 2 but we recently tried it again and do not care much for it.
*The thought of giving up my daily yogurt makes me want to curl up into the fetal position and cry! I hope the heck there is a yummilicious alternative out there for me!
*Ohhh cheeeeese... ohhh wonderful cheese!! I'm going to miss you sooooo much but you are the fat on my ass, the fat on my thighs and the puss in my mouth because of what those poor cows have been through to give me that wonderful cheese! (Nasty thought... yes, but also the truth.) (I did make a cheese less veggie pizza tonight that was fairly yummy!)

I know there is so much more to this and I'm alright with that. I'm all about doing this one step at a time because I want to learn and adapt. I have some books coming to me from the University Library that I cannot wait to get my hot lil hands on! I'm hoping to even possibly stumble across some blogs that will open my eyes even further and I really cannot wait!!

This isn't one of those "New Year's Resolutions", this is a lifestyle change. This is a change for the better, not just for me or you, but for all of us. My ultimate goal is to get to the vegan finish line... but if I only make it to the vegetarian finish line then I am just that one step closer.

If anybody has any hints, tricks, helpful thoughts, ideas, recipes, budget tips... anything!!! I will gladly accept them.
Remember... keep things happy!
I don't need any mean and/or negative (PETA) people sending me things... I receive your emails and newsletters people! I get it!

up in lights!

Yesterday was just insane!

Rush...rush...rush... and rush some more.

I needed to make chocolate chip cookies and no bake cookies. I tried making fudge but the damn weather has been just crap and fudge is funny... if the weather isn't just right... the fudge won't be either.
Jex spent the morning shoveling the snow off his roof because Mother Nature decided to dump over 13 INCHES!!! of snow on us between Sunday and Monday.

We needed to sneak (minus kids) to the grocery store to grab the proper ingredients and a few last minute gifts at another store. This time of year is just absolutely caaaaaraaaaaazzzzyyyyy!!!!

I finish the cookies and get them packaged. Jex starts and finishes his lasagna.
Check. Check.

Time to drag the kids to to the fire department's annual Christmas party.
Some current and retired members along with their families were in attendance. We all brought some yummilicious grub and ate like it was no ones business. Santa even made a guest appearance and spoiled the children with presents and candy canes.

After all that was said and done the Deputy Chief put on a "Year in Review" movie/slide show. Now there were many, I mean MANY pictures in this presentation but every single one of them was worth viewing. I love me some good pictures.

As the movie/slide show continues all of a sudden I had one of those "Oh my gawd!" moments.

A few weeks ago our town had a Christmas parade and the fire department was just an absolutely amazing part of it. The feeling around the firehouse was just mesmerizing; words cannot even begin to describe or explain it.

Well during this parade I was obviously snapping pictures because, well that's what I do. Jex uploaded the pictures to the fire department's picture server but I had no idea there would be anything above and beyond that.

Last night during the "Year in Review" was my "Oh my gawd!" moment.

All of a sudden some of my pictures... MY pictures started passing by. I was whispering in Boy Child's ears... "I took that one... and that one..." but in all reality I was a little shocked, maybe a little speechless and even a bit flattered.

Credits roll... and there it is.... Photographers: Jenn(ifer)
Holy Shit! My name up in lights! I turned around to look at Jex and he just winked at me. It was only a small moment, but it was a moment, my moment.

My pictures are nowhere near what I would love them to be. I would love love love to learn more! I have a simple camera... I want a big tricked out camera so I can capture those pictures that I have running through my mind. I want Photoshop so I can do those tricks and tweaks.

Someday dammit!

So enough mumble jumble... here are a few of those pics.

have to vs want to

So it's hell week...aka finals week. This has really been one of the worst semesters. I have slacked off; I mean really slacked off. I dropped a course because, well because I became lazy and didn't really want to do the work. Purely pathetic actually. I could go on and on about what I should have done but didn't or what I still need to do but I'm not going to stress out anymore than I already have/am. If I don't get these credits... ohh well. GPA goes down a bit, ok a lot and I'm in school another semester. C'est la vie!
At least I didn't waste four years of my father's money back when I was 18 and drinking away my college education. This time... it's my money. *puke*

Oh and Boy Child's report card this trimester makes up for my crap ass work. We worked damn hard together and it showed! Go Boy Child!! Mommy is some freakin' proud of you!!

So now here is the thing...

I have a whole month off from school. I know... totally friggin' rocks my funky socks too! Although I have an assload of things to do during this month... like finish cleaning, maybe pack, ditch the Christmas tree, etc! My brain will not be in its highest functioning form. During the school semesters I only have time to read textbooks, if I'm lucky. I have no idea what reading for pleasure is, unless you count Cosmo, Glamour, or something along those lines.

Hey... a girl has to educated herself there too! (even if it is crap!)

So to keep myself from feeling like I'm going brain dead I'm looking for book(s) to read. I have always had the hardest time picking something out. I need something to grab my interest and hold it. I want a book that will never want to be put down once it is in my hot hands even if I want it to!

Last semester I was given a list that had 100 books you should read before you kick the bucket by this awesome Professor of mine; which she also added to. Now while I have put a decent dent to that list, a few just do not hold my interest.

So what are you reading? What holds your interest? What would you/do you recommend?
Help this chica from going brain dead over Christmas break!!

little moments

Boy Child and I went on a day trip this summer in a neighboring town and because we're having a really crappy "ice storm" right now, which means school is cancelled, I figured I'd cheer myself up and post these pictures. It was a cold day for August because we had to wear sweatshirts and fleece jackets but then it turned into a beautiful warm sunny day. I love days like that!!

We packed a yummy lunch which consisted of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, some crackers and juice. Boy Child loves his grape jelly or blueberry preserves and me, well nothing other than strawberry preserves baby!!

Sometimes black and white just seems better to me but I love how you can actually see the purple against his porcelain skin.

mr. clean ain't got nothin' on me!

I hate cleaning.
Wait... let me repeat that in case you didn't catch it the first time.

I. hate. cleaning.

I'll do it but nobody said I had to like it. I wait until it can't be held off any longer then I bitch about how awful it is. I hate this house, I do not have enough space in my kitchen for the things I want (gadgets!) let alone the things I already own; or any other room for that matter. My computer desk is hidden under piles of papers, books, bills that probably need to be paid sometime soon and possibly even Boy Child's snack from last week. In this house, the possibilities are endless!

So because I really don't have enough to do... Christmas shop, study for finals, catch up on my online courses, take said finals AND pass, cross every possible thing that can be crossed that I will pass, ohhh and live life! Ya know like get up in the morning, shower, brush my teeth, and make sure Boy Child does the same! Maybe even eat!

My genious ass has decided to clean! Yep! I can't believe it either! Maybe I'm being incredibly hopeful that I'll have a chance to move and if I do this cleaning bullshit now I won't have to do as much later. I've lived here for 6 years and did I mention that I hate cleaning, so there is a decent amount. I'm not talking washing the dishes and mopping the floor. I'm wiping down cupboards and walls here people! I didn't even do this when I was pregnant with Boy Child and was supposed to experience that whole "nesting" thing. Yea.. what the fuck ever. I think the mailman is 8 years late delivering that memo. (Those bastards steal mail ya know? Ha!)

Now during all this I'm learning very valuble lessons. Seriously. Pay attention; let my stupidity teach you.
  • Do not wait 6 years to clean your oven; it's gross.
  • When that aerosol can says fume free; they LIE!! You're sticking your head in that oven spraying toxic chemicals to clean who knows what from the past 6 years... fume free my ass!
  • That dish soap that promises to give you better/softer skin after 5 uses or whatever it is they say, they also LIE! If I wanted better/softer skin I wouldn't wash dishes. Your soap may be "great" for my hands but it sucks at washing my dishes! I want clean dishes, not softer dishes. Think about it.
  • There is nothing "fantastic" about cleaning. Spray Spray.. sniff sniff!! Yep I'm losing brain cells just thinking about it.
  • Floral scented cleaning stuff still stinks! Lavender, roses or pine doesn't make it more enjoyable or encourage me to clean. Lavender makes me sleepy, roses stink and pine makes me want to go outside and play!
  • A pretty colored mop doesn't make the job any better... cleaning is still *gag*cleaning*gag*
  • Kitchens should not be yellow and white. You either like this (I actually do but I won't admit it) or you don't but it is horrible to clean! Don't belive me? Bring a bucket, cleaner of choice, and elbow grease. I'm looking for a few good (wo)men!
  • magic erasers fuckin' rock!!

These are just my thoughts with the kitchen and I've just begun. In another week or so I'm off from school for a whole month! Look out because I'm going to clean, throw away and bombard freecycle like it's your birthday!

like a dog chasing its tail

I cannot make a decision for the life of me. I have the people around me make them.

example: My college advisor picked all my courses. I'm so glad she is no longer employed for the University; she sucked and maybe that is why it has taken me a million years! (I'm hoping this new one has her shit together)
When it comes to going out for dinner I always answer... "I don't know" or "I don't care" even a possible "Just pick somewhere and I'm sure I'll find something"
My hair? HaHa! I let my beautiful hair chic do whatever she wants once I sit in her chair. Sometimes I'll have an idea but most of the time she has free reign. There is an advantage to this: change; bring it on baby!!
Grocery shopping: lil man helps pick out food choices.

Now here's my issue and it's big!! Well... to me.

I rent this cute little tiny house. And I mean tiny. Well because lets face it; our economy is going to shit my rent has gone up a whoppin' $130 smackers. That's a big chunk for this single college chic mom of a boy who is growing faster than a speeding bullet!

And we've been slapped in the face with the harsh reality of yep... a recession.
Oh the joys.

So here I am trying to weigh the pros and cons of moving into... wait for it... an apartment! *gasp*

I'm having a real hard time with this. I've lived in this house for going on 6 years. Lil man and I moved in here when he was 18 months old to start over; alone but together. Just us as a team. We had just enough to get by. A bed, a crib, clothes, dishes and minimal food. It was rough but dammit we made it.
Now this house is so full we are running out of room. He's bigger, his toys are bigger, even his clothes don't fit in his closet so I can close the door... blah blah... it's irritating. I scream when I can't fit things into cupboards or how about the day when I had to move his dresser into my bedroom because he needed a desk to do his homework and there wasn't enough space in there; I cried! Yep! I don't even have the space in my room for my own clothes which I own-- like 3 pairs of jeans and a small amount of shirts. Boy child comes first. Always. Its maddening.

Now I have a potential of moving into an apartment but it's just that.. an apartment. You know there is always a stigma attached to the word "apartment". Oh how I hate closed minded shallow people.

So here is my list...

House vs. Apartment

no up/downstairs vs. up/downstairs
basement vs. no basement
garage vs. no garage
washer/dryer vs. washer/dryer on site, not in apartment
shower only vs. shower/tub (lil man has never lived in a home with a tub- ever)
big yard vs. shared yard with kids
no neighborhood kids vs. neighborhood kids
in town vs. in town
6 kitchen cupboards vs. way more than 6
world could blow up and I wouldn't hear it vs. I'd have neighbors up my ass
I don't have to clean snow off my car in the mornings vs. I would have to
being lazy vs. I need the exercise
no space vs. more spacious
have cats vs. no cats
lil man's cat is his best friend vs. childhood depression if he lost his best friend
have a cat that pukes CONSTANTLY; she's sick vs. never have to clean cat vomit again
cat hair vs. no more cat hair
litter box vs. no litter box
house on small side street vs. apartment in a housing "park" on busy street
lotta money vs. saving some cash
all utilities paid vs. paying electric but other "things" are adjusted
no counter space vs. counter space (I'm a big cook/baker. Cookies go on a cooling rack on the WASHER)
washer/dryer are in my kitchen vs. see above
life sucking house vs. to be determined (to be explained another time)

Ok... I'm going to stop right there. As you can see I'm torn. Spinning in circles.

Saying I live on X Street sounds better than Y Street Apt Million though.
Ohh, I'm being shallow.

Dear Decisions: how I loathe you!

secrets don't make friends

Dear Victoria,

My crazy mailman delivered your newest catalog today and I looked through it because it's like a bad car crash; you just cannot help it!! Really.

But... I have come to the conclusion that you suck!!

Real people do not look like those "people" you have in there. Where do you even find these girls?

My boobs... they will never be that round, perky, perfect, whatever... ever! (unless you're buying 'em for me) This body has gained and lost weight several times. I once lost about 150 pounds; you should see what happens to boobs then. Horrific!
I've also had a child. Do you even realize what pregnancy can do to a *real* person's breasts? Like woooah!!

Stretch marks? Where are they? Woman get them even if they don't have kids; men too without the kid stress. Hello people!! Skin stretches through childhood... hence the term we like to use-- streeeeetch marks. Learn it- live it!

Whoever has an ass like that- bless them! Again... pregnancy, weight gain/loss wrecks havoc on your body! *Real* people just don't look like that.

Today's mail delivery has me a little disturbed because it eventually becomes bathroom reading material for men. These men oogle over these perfect breasts, asses, thighs, and non bearing stretch mark bodies; along with many other unrealistic traits. We're going to get into bed with our men feeling like we're competing with... well, that. Ick. It's impossible. Seriously.

My body has come a long way from where it was; I'm a lot more confident now than I used to be but that does not mean there won't be a nagging voice inside my head.

So Victoria... granted you do have some ass'tastic skivvies! and some boob'licious bras! I know that spending $1million dollars on your fabric will not give me the boobs and ass that your "girls" have.

So Victoria... your secret is out!!
I'm going to Wal-Mart, at least those catalogs don't end up in my bathroom.

lights and sirens

Well hot shit! Lately I am the ultimate slacker and, well.. nothing! I'm over it. You should be too.

Jex and I had date night last night; which is very hard to come by considering our schedules with the kids and his work. I should add that he's a career firefighter for the town we live in; this is important info-- pay attention!
So last night we did it up! We enjoyed a yummilicious dinner out and then we went to a University hockey game. We had a flippin' blast! The University here takes our hockey VERY serious! All is said and done, night is over, go home (his house) and go to bed; Jex has to be at the fire station by 7am (he's always there early 6:30ish).

His alarm goes off... he gets up and starts to get ready but then... his pager goes off; as in his pager for the Fire Dept. Those high pitched tones followed by the dispatcher's voice can be bone chilling; you never know what you are about to hear.

*Attention Artic Tunder Fire Department: you're requested for mutual aid at "location" for a structure fire. (repeated) Attention Artic Tunder Fire Department: you're requested for mutual aid at "location" for a structure fire*

At that very moment life changes... everything around you stops.
What is it? Why? Where is he going? What's going to happen? Who?
While all these crazy thoughts are running through my mind this man is moving like nothing I have ever seen.
In a blink of an eye I get a quick kiss and an "I love you" and just like that, he's gone. *poof*

He's living his dream and deserves it more than anyone I know, yet my crazy thoughts are not stopping!

I want him to be safe, I want the people that he is about to come in contact with to be safe, I want it all to work out for the best; I too, am only human.

I have the same thoughts and feelings when I see and hear the lights and sirens on fellow fire trucks. I know what those firefighter's families have to listen to in the afternoon, at dinner, in the middle of the night and I'm sure they wonder the same thing. Our family dinners have been interuppted many times so he can go. I have been woken up in the middle of the night, out of a perfect sleep, because those tones went off. The end result of this all is the men's selflessness.

Just remember when you see and hear those lights and sirens... get the hell out of the way!!
It could be your family member that they're on their way to or take a glimpse at the time, think about their family for a brief second; did they get their kiss and "I love you" this morning?

one plus one = four

WoW! I can't believe I haven't blogged in... 5ish days or so. Eh who's counting?

I don't have a fan club, or one I know about yet anyways, to keep me on my toes asking for more mumble jumble so sadly I've been slacking in those thoughts.
I'm trying to get back on schedule with school, which is just not working! I think I'm having "senior meltdown" or I'm seriously distracted. Ok... both.

I've been spending a lot of time with Jex again. We seem to be working through some of our old "issues", communicating like we've never done and just "being". There are so many things that are different and so many that are the same; so far it's a nice happy medium which you don't see too often. Or at least I haven't; my track record has never been top knotch.

We've talked about spending time as an "us" before getting the kids together again, (at least as often as we used to) and being the 4 of us. I don't know how some families do it. I would gladly accept words of advice/wisdom from those out there that have combined their families.
What works? What doesn't?

Boy Child and Lil Miss are only 4ish months apart and being only children they are very head strong. All 4 of us are head strong stubbon individuals and when we're combined it is a very powerful dangerous situation!!

I'm being optimistic and keeping the faith!

so much for that

I suck! I didn't blog yesterday. Yep... I know. Shame shame...tsk tsk!

Oh well. I could give a million excuses, not literally a million but damn near close and they're all legit; seriously.

Sooo... NaBloPoMo you have been officially fluuuuuuuushed! I'll have to attempt it again some other time.

I was so consumed preparing for last nights party that blogging was not a priority. Sorry to disappoint.

On to happy news... the party was a hit! Big E was totally and complete surprised! Love, LOVED it. I made rockin' yummilicious food! Ordered a cake to side track him because the boob cake was to come later. I'll post pictures of "the cake" soon, I promise. It looked amazing!
Yesterday my laptop was tragically knocked off the kitchen table and is now out of commission. :-(
I'm pretty devastated; hopefully tomorrow I can have it repaired and make me computer happy again. Thankfully I can get my fix today at Jex's.

So NaBloPoMo I have to put you to rest... I'm so sorry; maybe we'll meet again. Until next time...

I thought but...

...apparently I was wrong.

I really thought my life was crazy, busy and the entertainment value was sometimes worth at least a bloggitty blog entry here and there but, man I guess maybe I was wrong!

I have been way busy with school; more so avoiding it than the actual doing. I'm planning a party for a friend's birthday tomorrow and this has been quite the ordeal! Burgers, dogs, kabobs, chips, dips, nachos, salsa, and I'm even making a cake! A boob cake!

You heard that right! Boob cake!

It's going to be a blast! A BBQ in the fall, a slice of boob and lots of laughs!

second chances

Second chances. Should they be given? Should they not?
What about those rare exceptions where a third chance comes in?
How does that go again... third time's the charm or something like that?

Are they really chances or could it be considered an attempt to make something stronger?

I'm really not looking for an answer because the approval rating is slim to none, and I'm aware of that. Thanks. Really.

More times than not... if something is broken you fix it; you don't throw it away.

At least you shouldn't.

sea of emotion

Today has just been a whirl wind day of emotions! I am incredibly exhausted and wish I could fancy up some crazy clever bloggitty blog but I must disappoint you; I just cannot do it.

Instead, I'm going to add to the whirl wind of emotions! Despite having a sissy ass cold totally and completely kick my ass, or the annoying pain in my right arm from todays flu shot, the pretty Bertha zit I now have (I'm going to name all zits Bertha from here on out) or the annoyances I'm facing with school, there are still some moments that make it all go away.

That is my child's love!

All you need is love!

the unbelievable happened

I’ve always seen and heard about those girls who are so surprised and happy that they shake immensely and then they talk about that funny feeling in their stomach after but I’ve never really believed it or thought it was possible. I guess maybe it’s because I’ve just never truly experienced it.

Well hold the phone!

My stomach is just a big pit of mush, I can barely type, and I’m shaking in my funky socks!

I loooooove funky socks!

I was actually at school today, trying to make some progress on the mass ass amounts (that is a LOT) of school work that I need to do. I mean I have a LOT! It really is inhumane the amount I have to get done. So I went to the student advisor’s office to show her something on a mid term exam that I totally bull shitted my way through.

{side note: sometimes it pays to have a sense of humor. Here’s proof!!}

(that's 2.0 points for not knowing the answer!)

So after showing her, she says, “my turn, there’s something on the desk for you”
I turn around and there sits…..

(sorry for the not-so-great picture and only showing part
because they really are beautiful!)

Me: “No way!”
Her: “Yes!”
Me: “Noooo!”
Her: “You get points for that AND you get flowers! Get out of here and enjoy them!”

{here’s when I giggle like a little girl, take my flowers and pretty much gallop away}

I go back to the table where I’ve been working, aka slacking off all day to read my card and it says…

“Thinking of you today.”
Love Jex

Now this might not sound like it is that big of a deal but it is HUGE to me. I love, love, love flowers; especially when they’re sent “just because”. I love daisies and the, not your average flower. I *generally* do not like roses but sometimes the odd and exotic colored ones amaze me. I get sappy when Boy Child gives me dandelions or May flowers. I’m a girl; I like girl “things”. Pretty much end of that discussion.

When Jex and I dated before I NEVER got flowers of any sort. Remember, he’s not exactly Mr. Romantic. Here’s a little background on Jex; his father owns a flower shop.
YEP!
Lemme repeat that for you… his father owns a flower shop.
His sister even sent flowers to the restaurant we were having dinner at for my birthday. When I first saw them, I started to say something then he says matter-of-factly, “Those are from my sister”.

It was a simple and beautiful arrangement but perfect, perfect for me. It’s just one of those gripes I have. I don’t want flowers all the time, I don’t expect them, nor do I need them. Do I like them? Yes! I give my girlfriends flowers just because. I don’t necessarily buy them either. If I see a pretty “something” on the side of the road on the way to their house, I stop, pick it and give it to them when I get there. Life is about the little things! We’re girls and we like pretty girl things.

I leave random small notes here and there. I’ll drop a card in a random place with mushy words in it to let someone know how I feel. Those little things can really make a BIG difference in someone’s life. Boy Child gets a Hershey Kiss in his lunch box everyday because I can’t be there to give him an actual “kiss”.

Getting flowers from Jex today is just unbelievably huge!! I can’t explain why my stomach has the weird feeling it has or even why I was shaking like I was or why I still am actually. I just know I have never experienced that before. I don’t know if I’ll ever understand or if I even want to. I’ve been given flowers before, several times for many different reasons, but this was… well this was just….different. No... no… special.

Yes- that’s it…. special.

medicine head

As much as I'd really love to blame my *insert mood* on the medicine I have prescribed myself to get rid of this sissy ass cold I really don't think I can. I guess it's really just a typical night and here's a glimpse of that.

million miles a minute

I can't always be funny, witty, sasstastic or any other kick ass adjective because sometimes life just happens and feelings are there so I'm just "Trackin' It", ya know, trackin' life. Well today is definitely one of those days.

My mind is running a million miles a minute!

Heck, it's almost 11:30am and I still haven't showered, granted I still feel like ass and after all, it is Sunday but that really is no excuse.

Here's where it all begins... last night I was invited over to Jex's for dinner and to see the new house. I was supposed to go see Go-Go and get my phone looked at, fixed- whatever because it is yet again not doing what it should be doing and that is making me happy! But because I was feeling like crapolllllla I decided the half hour drive one way wasn't such a good idea; my phone really can wait, as can my phone happiness.

I should probably give you some background information about Jex since he's been around for a while and you probably haven't. I met Jex over 2 years ago on a Saturday morning when the Boy Child and I were shopping at walmart. We were in a hurry, I didn't have makeup on, and my hair wasn't done. Doesn't sound like a big deal but I NEVER do this. I even wear makeup when I go camping. So the boy child sees a little girl from his school, he has just started kindergarten this year and seeing kids from school out in public is super exciting to them, so these two run up to each other and start talking. This little girl, who I'll refer to as Lil Miss for now, has her dad with her and of course we're forced to talk. I'm so embarrassed- no makeup, looking like I was hit by a mac truck. So our cute little children introduce us and then off we go. Weird chain of events later we talk about dating, he reeeeally puts in an excellent effort but I just wasn't ready, I had just gotten out of a lengthy toxic relationship. We still remained civil, friends, talked and all that happy jazz though.

Now fast forward a year and of course, a series of weird chain of events. It is now November 2007 and we talk about dating and all the stuff that goes with it and heck! we give it a go!
Things are good with us, the kids are a battle sometimes, (2 only children combined and having to share attention... Oy!) combining families-- kudos to those who can do it!! A few bumps along the way, nothing we can't work through.

February comes... we're both commitment phobes, I don't need to explain what that means, but he's the one who flips like a light switch and I'm left wondering "What the FUNK man!?!" Just like that he decides he no longer wants this, he needs space...blah blah the typical male jackass excuse.
Well... this chic doesn't give up that easy... I go to his house, tears flooding down my face, and fight for what I want, what I believe in, what I think is right... long story short- we're back together.

I have knee surgery, I'm pretty much useless (I pushed my limits though) and he's amazing- helps me, helps Boy Child get through everything, heck my surgery was scheduled around HIS work schedule so he could help and I stayed at HIS apartment. He even took Boy Child shopping for my birthday to get me a Mother's Ring, it has a diamond (Boy Child's birthstone and mine) in the middle with a pink Sapphire (just because I like pink) on each side. A guy that buys jewelry! That's HUGE!

Now the kids start fighting, Jex's ex-wife doesn't like me so she's always causing some stupid immature drama. Why? No idea- she's just like that. 30something going on 13. Lil Miss says she doesn't want us together...and on and on. We ignore it, we work through it. We started talking houses, land, properties and all kinds of other ideas and options. I'm amazed and shocked. Wow! Is he for real? Is this real? Is he over his phobia? I've made it this far, my phobia hasn't even crossed my mind lately. Combining families is tough but we can get through it. I even took out books from the library about it so we could learn more, talk about it and figure out what to do. One said the adjustment period could take years! YEARS!?! But we can do it!

Fast forward to June... he flips again instead of talking! Whodathunkit? I tried to talk to him sooo many times but everything would get mumble jumbled and not solved- at all!

So it's over... just like that. I'm devastated. Crushed. I walk away. I'm not going to fight this time though, he wants to throw me away like that, throw us, everything-- then let him. I can't do it and I won't. Time goes by, he apologizes and I feel a little better actually. I still hate him some days and love him other days. He's on my mind way more than I want him to be or even should be. I even tried dating other people to see if the distraction would help... NOPE! Big fat negative.

I get a phone call in September while I was at school..."Jex is buying a house." I couldn't even speak. I felt like I had the wind knocked out of me. I started to tear up and all I could mumble was "I'm at school... call you later." I didn't even know what to do or how I was supposed to feel. I was mad! I was sad. I was supposed to be sharing that joy with him. Just 3 months ago we we're talking about all those things. So I choked back the tears like I always do.

About a month ago we talked about giving it a go again but after some deep thought I decided I couldn't do it. I broke up with him before we even started. Maybe for the first time I'm going to admit I'm still scared and hurt. I had feelings I never experienced before. I had certain things and parts of my life that I still wasn't ready to tell him yet, but all that comes in time. I was comfortable but sometimes I found myself biting my tongue more often than I wanted. I was also thriving for other things that he wasn't giving but he might have been too. I love the little things and he's not exactly Mr. Romantic if you know what I mean. But we were still us.

If you've made it this far... you effin ROCK! {here's some chocolate}

Last night... I go over for dinner and as I'm pulling up the driveway, there's the porch/deck- whichever you prefer to call it and I say out loud "you bastard". It's exactly what I like, what we talked about in May. Oh dammit-- here come the tears! but I managed to choke 'em back.
It was so weird, as I was pulling into the driveway I didn't get that awkward feeling in my gut like I used to get at his old apartment after we split up. I pulled in, parked and it was like I knew where to go, my car just had that spot where it belonged.

I go inside and it was such an odd feeling. I had never been there before but that is not how it felt. Jex had boxes everywhere! He just brought the last of his stuff over that day so I had to cut him some slack but the feeling was different. I put my shoes in a spot, my jacket and my purse. I just found a home for them with no hesitation. Lil Miss gave me the tour of her new home which was nice because she's made Jex show everyone so far. We had dinner the normal blah blah... Lil Miss said her good nights and then it was just Jex and I. Ohhh boy! Can I do this? Can I handle it? We were on separate sides of the couch watching a movie. We did this when we dated-- I hated it, he wasn't very affectionate sometimes, he can't sit still, he fidgets, restless leg-- you get it. Drove me craaazy!

Next thing I know- the man is touching my hair. The affection I had longed for from him for months! Then he stopped and I asked him why he stopped... he said nothing but started again. I scooted over closer to him so I could put my head in his lap so he could keep doing it and I was instantly relaxed. I even noticed that he stopped fidgeting. Amazing. I couldn't keep my eyes open I was so relaxed. The feeling- the moment was indescribable but right. Something was different. I needed to go home, it was time to keep the moment just as it was.

This man has never been one for expressing his feelings because it's better and easier sometimes if you just don't; I'm guilty of this too at times. So today we have a brief conversation on Instant Messenger and it made me giggle and cry, I just couldn't choke back the tears. It's a good thing I'm home alone today.

it went something like this...

Jex: was just gonna send you a quick email.....a little "jenn" therapy.....c if it works.... (writing is "jenn therapy" and this makes me giggle- a lot)
Jex: but ur here...so.....
Jex: remember the other day u sent me a text about missing me? cant me off ur mind?
Jex: well...
Jex: last night.....
Jex: all i can think about today is how right it felt when u put ur head in my lap......(start the tears)
Jex: i stopped fidgeting for a bit....
Jex: my mind is going 150 million miles an hour today.
Jex: since the minute i woke up
Jex: well, i just wanted you to know how much im thinkng about you today....not really any more or less than any other day....just feelings are waaaaaay more intense than usual.
jenn: thank you for being honest and actually telling me how you feel
Jex: i wanted to sit down and write you a letter......but that will come in time. id rather tell u to ur face anyhow.
Jex: i gotta get back to work.....the more i sit, the more shit "k" comes up with for me to do!
Jex: ttyl!
jenn: sounds good- have a good day. ttyl

Now my mind is really racing... at a speed of a million miles a minute.

I need to do what?

Sooo... this afternoon I check out clevergirlgoesblog (read her stuff, she makes me literally laugh out loud!) and low and behold today's post is about nablopomo.

Huh? What? you ask. Yea- it looked foreign to me too.
Well guess what; it's National Blog Posting Month!

Yea no shit! Whodathunkit? Not me that's fo' sure! I never even knew such a thing existed. So the whole deal is you're supposed to blog every day for the entire month. Yep! EVERYDAY for the WHOLE month.

I figured what the heck. Why not? I'm just starting this thing; which by the way is like CRACK!! My life seems like a TV show sometimes and I could seriously blog several times a day about the day's events. I'll post everyday, get this frigger up and going and then who knows.

Ohh I know! I'll procrastinate some more, stare at the dishes in hopes that they'll wash themselves, maybe the laundry will get put away too, homework and papers won't need my brain and I can just fluff around on the computer all day because I mean really, that's the perfect life other than being a ROCKIN' MOM!!

And I have to do this because... "I promised" So here goes nothing...

Oh and in case you were wondering my head and *still* full of snot! Ick!

Friday, October 31, 2008

My Head Hurts...

...and it's full of snot!
(Gross I know but I never claimed to be all that lady like. You'll learn- I promise.)

I was feeling a little icky yesterday and had that thought... "I hope I'm not coming down with something." What exactly does "coming down with something" mean? Hmm...

So anyways...I wake up this morning...... Blaaaaaaah!!! All stuffy.. icky and down right feeling like poo' ! Boy child came in to wake me up as the alarm was doing its *insert incredibly annoying alarm sound here* and ever so sweetly asks... "awww is my mumma a sick girl?
Now as sweet as it was, the poor child only received an "uhhhhh grrrr ohhhh mooooooan groooooan!"
You know exactly what that noise sounds like; you've done it too when you thought you were dying from that sissy ass cold you managed to find yourself with.

I spent the day doing ohhhh... pretty much nothing other than fooling around with this blog. I'm learning but not fast enough. I want it just right and I don't know enough for that to be happening. Sometimes being a slight perfectionist can put a big damper on things. *mumblecursemumbleswear*

Dammit! Time to get boy child at school... go to walmart and pick up the rest of his Halloween costume stuff. Queen of Procrastinating has struck again! I finish with all that happy jazz... hang out with him, annoy him to no end about his day and talk about this mad scientist costume.

(Keep in mind I've felt ok -- not 100% -- but ok most of the day.)

Now it's time to assemble the costume because this is NO store bought disaster!
White lab coat, black hair goop, white hair spray goop, thick black framed glasses with a band aid around the nose bridge, latex gloves safety pinned to the outside, pencils, notebook, and ruler inside the top pocket and then I safety pinned 2 nasty sticky oooooey gooooey eyeballs to the outside of the lab coat. Ohhh it was pretty damn cute if I may say so myself. So off we go around the neighborhood to beg for candy. Lucky for me, I now get my chocolate fix for the next few days! Yummilicious!! He'll never know right? *evil laugh* One reason to love Halloween!

Wellllll apparently me going out on a chilly fall night in Maine was not in my best interest with this sissy ass cold I have managed to find myself with. Dammit!
I even did exactly what my parents would have screamed at me to do and what I get to now scream at my own child.... "PUT A HAT ON!! IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!!"

See.... I have proof!

But... after our little trick or treating fiasco and then the normal Friday night "hostage swap" (boy child's father takes him for the night) I now feel like crapollllllaaaaaa!!!

*warning: possible graphic content*

I have been blowing snot out of my poor nose faster than
Puffs can produce these damn tissues. It's horrible. Oh but here's the problem... there isn't a damn thing there. Feels like it... it's a little runny, wet, and cold but when you place that tissue there and ppppffffffft...... NOTHING!!! Not a thing! I'm getting rather irritated and so is my nose. I can feel all this snot build up and it's making my head hurt! I no longer have brain up there- I have snot! I'm looking forward to my morning shower just so I can clean out my nasal passages; and yes, that was a sexy visual for you! I want to breathe out of my nose, not my mouth! I mean really, is that too much to ask for?

Damn you sissy ass cold for making me such a sissy!!

underwear crown

Two blogs in one day!?!

Shut up I know!

I am newly addicted yet some things have me incredibly frustrated! If any of you lurkers and peepers out there have advice or hints for me to make my bloggitty blog totally and completely *ROCK* you just lemme know because I wanna know! I'm ironing out the wrinkles with an unplugged iron here. Really.

Today... typical day; I blew off homework. Ha!

I am sooo far behind this semester it's ill. I mean like gut turning, throw up in your mouth a little ill. Yet here I am blogging... AGAIN times 2!! Priorities... procrastinating. Whateve'

School just is not tickling my fancy this semester and you'd think with that Direct Loan bill Mr. Mail Man gave to me today I'd be busting ass to finish.
Yea... maybe another day... month... year!!

On to the fun stuff...

Dinner is a pain in the ass in our house. Food in general is just a pain in the ass!!! Why is it that we have to eat again? I have food issues. The boy child has sensory issues... textures, temperatures, smells...etc of things can drive him up one wall and down the other, although it has gotten better but some days are still better than others. I *generally* do not eat red meat so instead it's normally chicken. Well... boy child normally responds with... "it's always chicken, chicken, chicken!!" I bet he goes vegetarian on me!! Heck! I'd gladly switch to that lifestyle if I had any freakin' clue as to what I was doing. The kid loves beans! Who doesn't love an excuse to fart? Seriously. Don't lie!

Dinner becomes topic of coversation... *gag*

Boy child tells me he'd like to have pumpkin pancakes for dinner. Awesome! We looooooove breakfast! We both agree on it, it's easy and it's yummilicious!! Who said you couldn't have breakfast for dinner? Not this Mumma!

Dinner is done... blah blah. Time for his shower! Oh the joys of fighting to get through the night time routine. Take a shower, get your jammies on, brush and floss your teeth, then use your mouthwash.

Now because there was an assload of pumpkin pancake batter leftover I was still making pancakes while he was in the shower. He finishes, gets jammies on and as I'm standing in the kitchen I hear his giggle.

Now boy child has this amazing giggle. If you don't giggle with him when you hear it, seek help of the professional kind because you must not be a happy person!

Shortly after, boy child decides to come into the kitchen to show me the reason for his giggle:
TaDa!! his.....

"Underwear Crown!!"

I had to grab the camera and was then threatened to not post pictures online.
MuHaHa!! *evil laugh* What he doesn't know won't hurt right?
But... BUT! I also had to ask... "those the underwear you wore today?"
He looked at me like I had 50 heads!
Then says... "Ohhh nooo... but I will wear these tomorrow!"

So picture it... camo fleece jammie pants, white thermal underwear shirt and a friggin underwear crown!!

Oh how I love this kid!

what's in a name?

Sooo... I thought I would give a little bit o' background info about this whole" Trackin' It" and "near the tracks" name stuff before I hopefully suck you into my life and create yet another blog addiction for you. (I mean isn't that the whole purpose of these things?)

I've wanted to start this whole bloggitty blog thing for a while now but I just couldn't come up with a damn catchy enough "url" that fit me and the life that surrounds me. My friend Nora (she's going to be mentioned a lot! Keep your eyes open for her!!) kept telling me "you're putting way too much thought into it, just put your brain away and do it!"

Not possible... no way in heck could I do this. I over analyze eeeeeeeverything! It's seriously retarded sometimes, other times I could give a rat's ass as to why anything happens.

Ok Ok... back to my story. I was having a text convo with Jex (ex boyfriend who's name starts with J-- clever I know) who is one of those off again, on again because well, the sex rocks! And many other reasons of course.
So to get from my house to his and vise versa you have to go "down the hill and up the hill" so this became a cute corny little saying of ours. He even had it engraved on the back of the ipod he gave me at Christmas.

*insert Awww* *sappy moment*

Now he's moving... bought a house and all the happy jazz that goes with it. The text convo started with something like....

me: OMG I just realized no more D T H U T H (down the hill up the hill)
Jex: well for a few more days there will be
me: that makes me kinda sad

He then proceeded to reminded me that he is moving just down the tracks.
I live near a set of railroad tracks that have been inactive for yeeeeears and yeeeeears. Well... if you follow these tracks for a small distance it will lead you to the street Jex will now be calling home.

So during the text convo I had a "TaDa!!" moment and said outloud to myself... "near the tracks!"

I even sent Nora a text because I was so proud of my TaDa!! moment.

As for trackin' it... Boy Child and I have taken numerous walks along these tracks. Suuuper duper memories on these walks and of course, always armed with the camera. The picture at the top of the bloggitty blog is actually of him walking the tracks in September. It was absolutely gorgeous!!

We walk... we talk... we listen and he tells me some of the most amazing stories.

don't spill that coffee!!

How do you start a blog about... well anything and everything from this very moment in your life when there is so much much to cover? I don't think, wait... I know there isn't an answer for that.
I'm 28 years old and if I went back to the beginning and continued on, we'd never catch up. I know I'm making sense to myself, you on the other hand are probably all confused by my mumble jumble jargon.
Therefore, here's an official... Welcome to My World!!

Bits and pieces will have to be filled in, offered and colored in as time goes on. It's just like meeting a new friend. You don't sit down for coffee at that first date/meeting and spill 20something years worth of baggage. Nooo... this takes time. Ease yourself into their crazy world, get to know them and all the great things that go together. Ohhh!! Buckle up and hang on... this is going to be so much fun!!
